Worthless

You told me I am worthless
and a burden to everyone.
When I was small,
I was always in your way.
You gave me strong beliefs
as everything you said
was the word of god for me.

I owned your worthlessness
and became your son.
Look at me: do you see yourself?

No.
You see someone who is proud.
My birthright belongs to you.
You see someone who flies
with ease you never knew.
I am not your son.

I am the son of the sky,
and I am flying free.
I dream.
Did you ever dream?
I never heard the word.

Do you see the sun?
Do you feel its warmth?
Of course not.
I am the son of the sky,
and I am flying free.
